Late Summer Rose

These are some of my favourite things! Roses!!

I love them and they always remind me of my Mom. My Dad always used to pick the first flower out of the garden for my Mom, the first snowdrop, the first sweet pea, the first rosebud, all for her. Each variety of flower in the garden was special, and there were many! The roses were one of her favourites. Now I have my first rose bush in my own garden and have been enjoying my own roses and as fall approaches, I hope it winters well...I'll have to do some research on that!

I coloured the rose on my card using a technique designed by Crystal French and generously shared by her. It's called Embossed Reinker Watercoloured Rose. It's a WOW technique!! You heavily spray (with water) your embossed image on Shimmery White Cardstock, then touch your aquapainter into a teensy bit of reinker and touch it to your cardstock. I used 3 different colours for my rose. The water and ink runs within the embossed parts and when it dries you cut it out and it looks beautiful!

What I used:

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, God's Beauty (Hostess-Retired)
Cardstock: Regal Rose, Basic Black, Whisper White, Old Olive and Shimmery White
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for sharing your fantastic technique Crystal...I really had fun with this card!

  1. Absolutely GREAT job with the technique! The card is stunning and it looks like you could touch the velvet on the rose! I'm glad you are enjoying the technique as much as I do! I've been 'oohing and aahing' on the other cards/projects on your blog, too!
