Late Summer Rose

These are some of my favourite things! Roses!!

I love them and they always remind me of my Mom. My Dad always used to pick the first flower out of the garden for my Mom, the first snowdrop, the first sweet pea, the first rosebud, all for her. Each variety of flower in the garden was special, and there were many! The roses were one of her favourites. Now I have my first rose bush in my own garden and have been enjoying my own roses and as fall approaches, I hope it winters well...I'll have to do some research on that!

I coloured the rose on my card using a technique designed by Crystal French and generously shared by her. It's called Embossed Reinker Watercoloured Rose. It's a WOW technique!! You heavily spray (with water) your embossed image on Shimmery White Cardstock, then touch your aquapainter into a teensy bit of reinker and touch it to your cardstock. I used 3 different colours for my rose. The water and ink runs within the embossed parts and when it dries you cut it out and it looks beautiful!

Wingo Zingo at Summers End!

Hi everyone!

I can't believe that it's the end of August already! For many of you, that means back to school shopping, getting organized for lunches and routines and signing the kids up for the fall events, like Hockey, Karate, Dancing, Swimming...the list goes on. Although I miss those activities from when my kids were small, I'm really glad I don't have to face the crowds in the malls! LOL!

I have lots of things to share with you but for today I've got a little back to school card that I made. I love the colours!

A Vintage Card

Hi everyone!

We've gone from a heat wave to cooler temperatures and rain now. I actually don't mind the rain and the forests can sure use a healthy drink. Here's another card to share with you, I love the vintage look of it! Sponging and distressing are 2 of my favourite techniques.

The technique I've done is called Popping Pastels.
Here's the recipe:
Cardstock: Kraft and Whisper White
Stamp set: Friends 24-7, En Francais (Background), Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa and Versamark

Accessories: SU Die Cut Butterflies, Cuttlebug Texture Folder, Leaf Punch, Branch from my garden(!), Half back Pearls, Fine Wire and SU Chalks (same colours as the inks above), Pretty in Pink Tafetta Ribbon, Distressing Tool and Sponges.

Hope you enjoy it!
